Newcastle has a proud tradition of market trading and the town centre hosts markets for 6 days a week. Our traditional outdoor street market is in the High Street, at the heart of the town where you’ll discover friendly and knowledgeable traders serving a wide range of goods and offering excellent value for money.
The General Market
The general market trades on four days a week including Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Traders serve a wide range of goods for all the family with a slightly different offer on each general market day including:
· A wide range of fresh food including fruit & vegetables, bread, meat, cheese, eggs, and confectionery;
· Household essentials for cleaning and DIY;
· Clothing and fashion accessories including handbags, footwear and jewellery;
· Cut flowers and garden plants;
· Home furnishings;
· Watch battery & strap fitting;
· Fresh fish from Fleetwood fisheries each Friday;
· Hot food from our 5 star food hygiene rated caterers;
The general market is open from 9.00am to 4.00pm every Monday, Wednesday, Friday & Saturday.*

Tuesday Antiques and Thursday Bric-a-Brac Markets
The Antique Forum Group takes over the market each Tuesday and Thursday. The Tuesday market hosts a range of antiques, collectibles and vintage to discover whilst the Thursday market offers a varied range of bric-a-brac and collectible treasures to browse and enjoy.
The Tuesday and Thursday markets are open from 8.00am to 3.00pm each week.
The Farmers Market
The Farmers and producers market is held every third Friday of the month around the Guildhall, bringing together a range of local, regional and handmade food direct from the producers. Featuring organic and free range produce alongside homemade pies and preserves, meat and cheese, smoked products, savoury eggs and cakes.
The Farmers Market is open from 9.00am to 2.30pm on the third Friday of every month.
Annual Charity and Plant Market
The Newcastle Annual Charity and Plant market takes place on the Spring Bank Holiday in May each year. Around 30 charities take over the market for the day to raise much needed funds and promote awareness of good causes. Local plant nurseries also offer the opportunity to stock up on hanging baskets, patio pots and summer bedding plants for the garden and children’s entertainment takes place around the Guildhall.
